AWWW MAN!!!! i hear ya dude!!! yeah our neons are 1.99 and cardinals are 3.99 im pissed but.... they wouldnt survive in my comm tank soooo not too worried about it. Rasbora Heteromurphus is where its at anyway!! only get maybe 1-1.5" so they're great and they look cool!!!

I did actually have 100 cardinal tetras at one point in my 75 gal community tank (I got them from aquabid)... And that's the only way I could ever get them to survive. Put them in anything like a 20 gal, and they immediately die... So, there's no way I'd be able to keep one alive in a 2.5 gal at school. lol

I'm in a somewhat similar situation right now. I don't plan on staying in my current apartment for very long and don't want to deal with the hassle of moving a larger tank.

I just setup a 5.5 gallon tank with a penguin 100 and a small 50w heater.

I'd prefer to just buy the components separately because you can put a little bit bigger filter on there for the same price.

too true dude, plus with a little overfiltration you can a little overstock your tank, i have a 50g filter on my 20g lolz. its almost 40g worth of fish in there, im doing 20% water changes every other day

Good advice!:iagree:
Maybe you're too ignorant to see the advantages of a smaller tank. Don't come out labeling people dumb and spoiled because they want a smaller tank. There are reasons why those tanks sell so well versus a 10gal or 20gal glass. Those tanks are portable which your idea of a 10gal or 20gal glass cannot offer.

Wanting to spend full price when he can get something cheaper because he don't wanna look up something online. alright. lazy and spoiled.

I would like to plant this tank so I was wondering if there was any good, easy to maintain plants that would work for this?

I was also wondering if I would be able to do like 2 Dwarf Gouramis? I would think that a 5 or 6 gallon would be too small for them, but I was just checking.

I was thinking about doing Dwarf Gouramis, female bettas or I was going to try something a bit more challenging: a Dwarf Puffer. I do have a post checking on the specifications for that. It would be neat to do a tank with a theme based on the country of origin of the fish. Any suggestions on plants based on that???

Cheap is not always good. You just cannot beat an NEW item other than price. I don't mind looking online but I still like to buy things new so I am gaurantee no leak.;) BTW, you can find Marineland Eclipse setup online for half the price of the store.

Hornwort is hardy and grows really fast. you'd have to trim to keep it from overrunning your tank :nilly:

im not sure if the gouramis are gonna be ok. GENERALLY speaking they are territorial to themselves. .. and i dont think that 6g would be big enough but im not sure

DP's need 15g min. they are extremely active and explorative and soon get bored with small or underdecorated tanks.

And leaking in a dorm room would not be good because I would have to pay to get the carpet replaced if it causes damage and the desk.

Ok thanks for that suggestion, I forgot about looking at eBay etc.

In the Puffer forum section, the people said that I would be able to do a DP in a 6 gallon tank given the right conditions so...

I dont even know if I would be able to find one near me anywhere too.
