My Senegal does that with the the featherfin from time to time.

Be careful with the featherfin, they are known to rasp at the slime on the side off bichirs, weakening their emmune system

Thanks, i'll keep an eye out for that behavior. Havent noticed any problems as yet, been in the tank together about 2 months.

Asked on here why it was, removed the featherfin and he is clearing up nicely

All the time.
I think they're checking if the other fish is a potential mate, or food.

If the bass were a smaller fish, it would be missing its pelvic or anal fin.

haha ya good point! its weird this is the only fish my pbass has put up with.. idk why
