Hmm well yes but not one that shows inside the mouth very much...I'll dig around and post what I have and in the meantime I might be able to take a new one, I'll report back later today.
-Thanks to everyone for their interest and thoughts, like I said before I've been trying to figure this thing out for quite a while and I'm stumped.
 
Alrighty and so here are the pics that I have currently, I'd love to get some of him with his mouth open or maybe during feeding which is when I see a lot of his head shutter and jaw snapping behavior. Again, it's like he wants to eat and just has some kind of block...He did eat an earth worm maybe 2-3 days ago, but I don't want him to get used to eating just that...I'll see if I can get help from my wife with getting pictures during feeding tonight. Thanks in advance for any tips or suggestions!

Alrighty so updating here again. The last few days have been some of the same. However today, I did actually get this guy to eat something. It was an earthworm, and it was a very small part of one. What was concerning to me was how much he seemed to struggle with chewing the food, and I'm thinking this could be why he's so unwilling to eat harder foods like pellets and such. He chewed and chewed and chewed and would seemingly make little to no progress actually eating the worm. He did eat and keep down a very small piece, and then wouldn't eat anymore after that. I'm encouraged in that he's at least willing to try food now, but discouraged by the fact that he very obviously is suffering some form of physical discomfort when it comes to the physical task of eating.
 
Ok just finishing off this thread with one final update. I finished the last dose of the prazi pro treatment a while ago and while my JD has maintained his healthy and aggressive demeanor, he continues to intentionally bash his head and gill areas against the drift wood and such in the aquarium. His appetite for things like earthworms, mysis shrimp, and blood worms has returned to 100% normal, however he still refuses to touch any flakes or pellets of any kind. I suppose I'm happy in that he's eating and colorful and feisty, he continues to boss my little female true festae around. My next big purchase for my aquariums is going to be this month, I'll be switching over from tap water to using RO filtered water. I'm excited about it, a little overwhelmed about getting things transferred over smoothly, and excited to see if maybe this helps alleviate some of my JD's odd behaviors even more? Anyways, thanks for the interests and advice throughout everyone!

You have saltwater tanks too? RO water is no good for freshwater fish.

Oh really? And that's enough to put the necessary minerals back in the water?
 
My understanding is that RO water is fine for FW tanks with the added caveat that you must add back in what you want. Here's my situation. I live in the Rocky Mountains, so my water is clean but very very hard. High GH and KH and a pH of 7.8-8 out of the tap. This is tolerable for my African cichlids but what about my south americans in other tanks? I'd like to be able to get my pH down to about 7-7.5 for them depending on the fish and it has not been possible to do this just by adding things like drift wood into my tanks and water storage containers. You would need a product similar to RO right to replenish electrolytes and other nutrients that have been stripped out by the RO unit. I also struggle with algae growth in my tanks and nearly any plant gets torn up by my rowdy cichlids. Will using RO water stop algae growth or not?

I'm really glad you brought this up because ive been arguing with myself about this purchase for a while, do I need it? Do I not? I'm still not convinced it's a must...
 
If your water quality is good but your ph is high, you can try mixing 50/50 tap/ro. You could always just switch to CA which are usually in the higher ph.

Not everything perfect no, but when dealing with crappy tap water it's sometimes our only recourse.

Him eating, color and acting like a JD are good signs. Hope he fully recovers soon.
