Could be either, or it could be bacterial as well.

Only way to know for sure would be to take a culture and have it tested.

If it were me, I'd be thinking he's got internal parasites at the minimum, and possibly other issues. I'd treat for IP's first and foremost. I'd continue to monitor the white spots during and after IP treatment. If they don't go away after the IP treatment, I'd treat with something like seachem paraguard that treats for a very wide range of external issues (bacterial, fungal, viral, and parasitic). It sounds like paraguard is a cure all, but this is one of those that doesn't treat for INTERNAL parasites very well, and you're better off treating with meta for internal parasites.

Anyway, just my .02.
 
There is a thread on here that has a treatment for IP that only uses Epson salt. You soak his pellets in it. A 3% solution. I think a teaspoon of Epson salt mixed in 16 oz of distilled water. Feed three times a day for 5 days. Very cheap and easy.

What if the fish isn't eating? Then it would be kinda redundant to try and feed the fish yes?

If it is eating, then soak the fish food in garlic extract. Then feed to fish.

If it isnt eating, then prazi pro works wonders.

As for the cyst, it may or may not go away.

Obviously it won't work if the fish won't eat. If it's IP, and it won't eat then there isn't much hope. I bumped the Epson salt treatment to the top of the Flowerhorn forum. Check it out. Epson salt is a natural laxative, and it's safe.

Really? Not much hope? Really?
Prazi pro worked wonders on a couple of rays I cured. Even a couple of bass to.

Op also said the fish is eating, so, soaking the fishes food in garlic extracts can work for internal parasites.

Petco had nothing for internal parasites so I ordered some prazipro and will feed pellets soaked garlic extract or epsom salt if I can't find the garlic extract. Will keep you guys updated. Thanks again for the help!
