From the pictures what concerns me is the lateral stability. How is it constructed? It seems a good shove from the side would cause the whole thing to collapse.

Nice. I have a similar funny story about my male firemouth. Got a group of 5 to act as dithers in a grow out tank... Didn't work out so well and lost all but one, who I had to nurse back to health in a hospital tank. Anyway, tried to reintroduce him in my 125 and he ended up behind my 3D background somehow. I fed him a little bit each day behind the background and would check on him from time to time with a flash light. Finally managed to net him months later and he's the nicest FM I've ever seen in person! Go figure.
Lol, that's hilarious. Sounds about as epic as my FM's story. Crazy Firemouths.
I'm not sure how to describe to you how it's constructing? You can see practically the entire design from the pictures. It's 2x4s deck screwed and guerrilla glued together and the surface is double layered plywood and a top layer of insulation with steal L brackets under all the corner 2x4 connections. Not exactly sure why you would give a stand holding an aquarium a "good shove" from the side? But it's solid as a rock.
you could do a little modding and paint it and it would look real nice. nice work for a first time though thats forsure. im prob gonna borrow some tools and make me a few stands also just to dam lazy these days to do it... lol
there is someone on here who made a real nice stand for his setup and put grooves around the edges and everything. looked real nice!
