Dovii and snails?

Will Dovii leave snails alone? I use Potassium in my water softener and it causes algae to grow like crazy in my tanks, I need something that will help with the algae but pleco's never last very long

So would snails become a snack? If so would it be harmful to the Dovii?

Definitely not. They may last 'a while' but they will be tasty snacks.

they could be ok if you got a few, they do breed like crazy saying that, i doubt they will live that long anyway. why dont u try it?

I'd look into apple snails since they are so large, the Dovii would not be able eat them persay but I guess I will have to find out.

Why are you adding potassium? What does it do?

My water softener leaves a salty taste to the water when I use the normal stuff so we switched over to the potassium stuff which gives the water more of a sweet taste but still softens the water. It's more expensive so it must be better right? lol

what size plecos are you trying? get one thats over a foot and see if your dovii still bothers it

with small snails they may not be eaten but would multiplie and look bad plus they would be hard to get rid of if you got to many larger snails like apple would most likely be eaten if you could find huge snails theres a chance but they would need to be strong if the dovii could crack them they would be gonners

I have a ton of rams horn snails in my dovii tank and he only knocks them off the glass for fun. I've never seen him eat one. The algae is still bad and I have to scrape it off.
