so i made myself a divider and tossed in the male/female dovii, still not sure hoping someone could shine a light on what it could be, its a lot smaller then my boy blue. Blue is not showing any interest, not interacting through the divider what so ever which is the complete opposite of the little one. Its eating like a slob and is always trying to get through the divider. Any tips would be appreciated.

Here's some pics. I know the divider doesn't look that good but appearance doesn't really matter to me at this point. Just want them to see eachother

interesting divder lol, looks female to me very smooth lateral line and very minimal speckling.

In regards to breeding them or having them get acquainted, I'd use the light diffuser (a.k.a Eggcrate) as a divider. If also remove grid of the diffuser, large enough for the female to swim through to escape the male if/when he gets aggressive. You can pad the opening w the gray pipe insulation tubes you get at your local Home Depot/Lowes or just sand/file the burrs down to avoid any injury to the female. You can always keep some extra on hand (along with zip ties) if you need to temporally cover up the holes. Here's an example.

off topic and im sorry but at what point does a male dovii show sign of blue coloring or not all
dovii have blue color? and once again im sorry

houses divder works best put it in a corner dont give her much space she needs to feel like she has to come out or she will stay on her side more often. put some dither fish in and they should be good to go, dovii males are hard on there females so make sure she can get away , with houses method it is the safest way

I don't really feel comfortable with that because I'm pretty sure if he gets ahold of her he'd swallow her whole lol.

I also put in some rosy red minnows and they're eating them up. The male still hasn't gone close to the divider. Seems upset that I divided his tank. But the female is trying to get his attention. Biting at the divider and swimming frantically up and down
