All Dovii have a breaking point where they no longer have the tolerance for other fish in their tank... Unless your tank is EXTREMELY large. I would suggest dividing the tank for now and trying to find a home for it. That doesn't mean you have to give it away, it just means you need to find a tank that it can call it's own and can grow up comfortably in.

:iagree:
At a certen piont "BANG" the switch turns on. Once that Dovii thinks "hay I can kick your a** there is no turning back. Get him is own tank or he'll make his own. My Trimac did the same thing.

I agree with dividing the tank for now and finding new home for the dovii. All cichlids have a breaking point, and when you're talking about devils, jags, dovii etc, when that switch if flipped it usually results in a lot of carnage. Many cichlid-o-philes have had the misfortune of waking up one day and finding their tank with a bunch of dead fish and one monster that had previously shown no signs of aggression. :)

Oh, and adding more fish to the tank just adds more victims for the dovii imo. ;)

Yeah. Dont take any risks with Dovii, because if it doesnt work, it reaallly doesnt work.. It's your tank though, do with it as you please.

These are one of those fish that looks cool but then you think na that can't happen to me. I bought a breeding pair and in no way of former these guys and girl will ever see any other cichlids. Mine are house in a 125gal bye them selfs and have bread them witch gave me about 200fry. if you even get close to the glass BAM. He is all over you! Dovii are really cool and can be really aggression, Just at my LFS they had just a female Dovii and anything that was put in the tank she whoop on it, she manage to have 3 big Oscars in a corner not wanting to move. All in all just watch them but unless you have a really big tank one of those fish is going to become ruler of the tank and the all Hell is going to break lose!

just my 2cents

Dovii aggression problem? LOL at the friggin thread title. Of course they are aggressive. And adding more fish isn't going to solve the problem. I say just separate him from others.
