How long do you think will a parachromis dovii will out grow a 75 gallon tank?

Do you mean, how long will it take to outgrow a 75?
Or are you suggesting that the old "urban myth", that a fish will only grow to the size of a tank provided, is reality?
Yeah, how long will it take to outgrow a 75 gallon tank. I don't subscribe with that myth hahaha

Depending on at what size it started......could be about a year...probably less.
Mine went from 2" juvies,

to outgrowing a 150 gal in less than a year (pic above from April 2009)

A solo Freddie or multi may be able to stay in the 75 for life.

Hey Rakeboy Rakeboy ,
I wouldn't keep a Dovii just because you would get attached to it and then have to rehome him eventually. I really like your idea for a Midas. Midas are quite entertaining and interactive fish. Midas have some cool coloration, especially the orange and white ones. Many Midas also have big nuchal humps, especially males. I think a Midas would be a good choice. You won't be disappointed. GL

Aren't all these suggested species still going to achieve or exceed a foot in length? I think plenty of folks, myself included, would consider a 75gallon tank too small for properly housing fish of that size for life.

Of course, they can spend their entire lives in a tank that size...but that's because they aren't given any say in the matter...
