At what age do Dovii colour up??

....my 3" baby is very drab, how long do I have to wait for the pearlescent markings to shine through? Or is that only on males?

they colour up (same as most other fish) at maturity so around 5-6" males only get the "pearlescent" colouring

mbunafish keeper is right. they dont show much color till they start to mature. I have a 5" and 6" wild male for sale with nice blue irridecents and a lot of spots from Jeff Rapps if interested.

My Female Dovii started coloring up nicely around 6".. my 5.5" male is still dull lol.

i got my dovii larger at about 7" it still took him about 5 months with color ehancing pellets to color up

takes a while..my mates 8" male dovii is just startin to get grouse colours now...

So would anyone say that the female is still a good looking fish? i have no idea what sex mine is yet......only a baby!!

Females can be hit or miss.. I got lucky with mine.. she's gorgeous and getting more colorful every month.
