  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
i feed mine hikari gold, bloodworm, earth worms and smelt. most fish like bloodworm frozen or alive.

I use to have a Dovii. He ate Hikari Gold, market shrimp, and anything I threw in the tank. Give give him some time, he'll come around when he gets hungry.

Gt were do you purchase massivor pellets??? I have heard a lot of good things about the food but i have not yet seen it in any lfs so far. By expensive do you mean like bio gold expensive???
Most good stores will carry it here.By expensive it is 2.5 times the price of Hikari Gold but well worth it IMO.I am now buying it in 2.5 kg buckets now which drps about a third of the price.

My dovii is over 18" now, and I rarely feed him live foods. You are probably going to have to let yours fast awhile to get him off the feeders, but I do believe it will be the best way to go.

My guy loves shrimp, I buy it when it is on sale, keep it frozen and thaw it before I feed it. As far as dry foods, he loves large krill (freezedried), and I have also supplemented his diet with cichlid large cichlid pellets. Whatever I have on hand from any of the major brands. Another fun food I have found are the Can O' shrimp from Zoo Med, as well as some of there other can foods that are cooked in the can. And then the stand bys that are around the house, such as crickets, earth worms etc.

I also think that feeding these types of foods lessen their aggression, I don't have to worry about sticking my hand in the tank, or worry about him flying out if I lift up the lid!!

I hope you are enjoying yours as much as I enjoy mine!! I think the are one of the most awesome cichlids out there!!!

Cichlid Power!
