Jag may work and a amph species but a umbee would just be asking for trouble. Honestly trying to house dovii with anything is asking for trouble. They don't cohabitate long term anything

I have a 14" male in a 240 gallon with a jaguar trimac 2 red Texas and some other fish

It is temporary but so far so good it depends on the dovii

you see I like south Americans dovii being my favorite. But I don't want a whole 250 to house just him. That's why I was thinking bout going with Africans in it.
 
i had a jag and dovii together and they did not paly nice, mixing parachrmois species together is risky but then again i dont have a 240. I'm guessing once that dovii gets large enough it will kill everything in there unless its a female dovii

Then don't get a dovii. You don't see too many large dovii in community tanks.

IMO you dont like Dovii enough! I have a huge 240 wide with two fish in it. Some people say what a waste of space some people dont.
