dovii growth rate

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
My dovii is the same way! it's now been in it's own 50 gal for quite some time its definitely gotten robust and some length but it's just not showing me true dovii behavior. I think it might be female, in its community tank it bullied fish at night but kept mobile by the filter all day. wasn't an aggressive eater, and it still has the same characteristics in it's own tank.

I see this thread is from '07, but I bought a do vii a couple months back and he's grown 2 inches. Try feeding it 20-30 live fish a week.

I wouldn't feed him that much feeders but thats just me. I put feeders in like once a month and make sure they are eaten in 3hrs. I had luck by doing mealworms, krill, good pellets, and nightcrawlers. I think its because hes the smaller one in the take like that other person said. I had the same problem with fish in the past that were supposed to get big quick but they were the low one on the pole so they didn't.

I ordered 7 baby dovii and had a male and female dovii that grew twice the size of all the other ones they were all kept together so it may just be the individual fish

tank size?, when and at what size did you buy it?, what size is it now?, tankmates?

dovii are accually known to grow fast, most at 1" per month until 12"ish and than slow down until eventually 18-20"+

Thanks for the info- I have 2" juvies now and are in with 2" red terrors- no problems so far-55 gallon grow out tank for now.
