Dovii HITH?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Thanks Bro and yea i know my fish will get too big but i plan to sell them once they get that big cuz my house won't be ready soon enough. And my parents won't let me get a bigger one in there house :(

there is no cure, you just have to do frequent WCs and keep the water quality perfect and it might heal or might not. You should pay attention to some of the discussions that go on around here, treating HITH is frequently talked about. IF you used the search function you would find dozens of recent threads for it

so your saying I'm gunna have to continue buying that general cure i bought at the store that says it cures hole in the head for the rest of my Doviis life? Your saying it'll never be completely gone?

no, I'm saying you need to make sure you do a 50% water change twice a week or a 90% water change once a week.

Start making sure there is always 1 TABLESPOON PER 5 GALLONS OF WATER of regular tablesalt in your tank water, 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.

Keep track of how much water you remove during water changes by using 5 gallon buckets and giving yourself a workout and replace the EXACT amount that was removed during water change.

Salt is removed with water changes but NOT evaporation so DON'T add salt when you top it off, but DO add salt when you siphon water out.

Questions, Comments, Concerns?

I will explain it more thoroughly if you ask me to, don't be shy.

I'm not sure if op's original stocking is the same as it used to be.If it is, I'm not surprised he has health problems.
He was cramming all sorts of incompatible fish into tiny tanks despite advice given by forum members.
It's a shame for the fish but I think op is also experiencing a little karma.
Take Stanzzzz7 Stanzzzz7 advice and thin the herd.....I have to thin my 75g after a year since my largest Jaguar went psychotic overnight. Good thing I have a brand new 125g

I notice op has some smooth skinned catfish some of these cats don't take well to salt.
It will help your cichlids but may do harm to some of the other occupants.
Having said that, what the hell a red tailed catfish is doing in a 75 with a dovii plus other fish is beyond me.
Treat the dovii with salt and kill your catfish at the same time, makes no difference your fish are all doomed in your care anyway.

For any new members reading this,we don't enjoy going out if our way to be harsh to people.
Most on here, including myself will do all we can to help other members
This poster has been advised several times by several members but still chooses to house his fish in a very cruel manner. He does not have to follow our advice, that's his perogative.
As expected and foreseen, the op is having health issues. This comes from not having any compassion for the animals he is keeping.
He wants something,he has to have it.Regardless of adult size of the fish, regardless of the fact he has no way of housing these fish.
He just has what he wants regardless.
I would say harshness is deserved.
I would rather new members read this and know this is no way to treat fish and most of us here don't condone cruelty.
Mistakes can be made, I understand, but the fish in this post are being treated poorly despite lots of advice given.

He is still a kid, Mate....while I don't agree either I feel we might be seeing some progress in him and I think he is learning (be it a high cost - animals' lives)....don't give up hope, I think we can make a good fishkeeper out of him still. He has admitted wrong, so that's a HUGE STEP, IMO and I can at least respect him for it.

Let's give the kid a chance to show us he is capable of learning from this. I got faith in him. He obviously inherited some brains.....you gotta have some type of smarts to get rich

Admitting you are wrong is hard for a 30-80 year old......it's revolutionary for a 17 year old. Let's wait and see on this one. Sometimes we DO actually make a difference, Bro

Your more sympathetic than I Frank.
At the age of 17 you know what's cruel and what's not.
I hope your right though Frank,it is definitely the preferred outcome.
