dovii, if you had too choose?

if you had to choose between a male dovii at 4-5" either-
a. the more massive one with the best colors, but so far has hidden constantly.
b. one that is more drab colorwise, slightly less bulky but has a better nunchal hump and is always out.


i have a couple males fitting a., one is especially nice when i can see him,
and a few fitting b., but color is deff. less impressive.

out of my 15 dovii i think roughly 2/3rds are males at this point and their getting a little feisty, so its about time to start thinning out stock.

i would pick your favorite of the a and b and then get rid of the rest. then choose one of the two later on (hoping the better looking one decides to come around).

in washington and i cant ship, sorry. more than likely i will pick the best looking one, once he hits 12+" dont think he'll be hiding much anyways.

it all depends on the fish, ive had 7" dovii look like crap, some of mine colored up at around 3". even in my group some still are all plain while others will be/are great looking.

Hmmm. Hopefully mine will start top color up soon so i can see who's male and female.. So have they started to beat up on each other yet ??

I would go for the one with the better coloration. After you remove the more aggressive dull one, i bet the more colorful one will come out and take his throne.

they nip and chase, some of the male have established small territories. just noticed some lip locking today for the first time. some of em are still only 2" or so.

the best looking one that hides is also the most aggresive, he's just claimed a small cave and not much gets close to it.
