Dovii in a community
How many have one ... A lfs has a beauty and was wondering if it would fit in with a full grown oscar a jd and a lucious pike . I really want some color in this tank it looks empty

I have a Dovii in a community but everyone says it's a rare exception.

It's a 265g. My stocklist includes:

12.5" Dovii
12" C sp Venezuela
5-6" Festae
7" Grammodes
5-6" Indo Datnoids x 3
14-15" Polyterus Weeksii
11" P Ornatipinnis
5" Clown Loach x 3
5" Filament barbs x 2

It was a little trial and error. I orginally had a 10" Crenicichla Lenticulata and two 10" Jags in the tank but the Dovii figured if I didn't take them out, he would. So now they're in another tank. The current mix has been doing well for several months. GL with yours.

i doubt it will work in the long run, maybe for a few week or so but there will be deaths in no time.

Every now and then you see one of those guys with a MONSTER CA/SA tank... I've seen a couple guys around here with 500-700g tanks that have their Dovii in their with a lot of other fish, no issues at all..

I think if you give them enough space, they will chill out, I think most aggressive cichlids are like that.

But I mean... were talking a 500+ tank, not many people have that.

Try a mini dovii. (grammode). You may get balton to show you a pic of his 7"er.

I just keep them anyway and one day it will be all worth it. Here's the female...

Very true, thats the right way to do it too.

But I think personally, my next fish I get will NOT be smaller then 8" off the bat.

Well also you're in a different situation than I am right now. I have other tanks and other larger fish to keep me happy. You're down to one tank and want something big right now. Perfectly understandable.

Btw regarding the community tank, I added a couple more 5" clown loaches I saw at the lfs today....couldn't resist. Total of 5 now.
