yeah parachromis aren't that hard to breed I work at a shop that breeds alot of our stock and this week both our dovii pairs gold and blue spawned and they spawn every 2-3 weeks it seems, I personally have a pair of jags and its the same story

Where at in Ohio....I'm in northern Kentucky. When you say gold and blue, are you talking about Costa Rican pair and a Nicaraguan pair?

You have to remember now that some vendors are selling Costa Rican blues now, that messes up our entire blue/nic.......yellow/cr thing we had going on.

Nice Pair, Keep a close eye on them, separate if you see any aggression. That male could go from 0 to 60 real quick. I had a big male that bred with managuense in community tank and after she died tried 4 or 5 different dovii females with him he killed them all. I tried eggcrate with holes cut out, separating fish, and eggcrate with slate next to it, he would not fertilize through the egg crate and he would play nice for a little while like they were bonding. In the end he would kill them and quick when i didn't moniter them. it was big size diff. male was 12" through 15" and females were 6"- 9". I have two costa ricans that have paired up for about 2 monthes now, still waiting , m 6" and f 4" . Good luck and nice fish.

Thanks, Well I have had them separated by plexi glass for a few days now and built an egg crate divider. While switching dividers I let em kiss for a little bit. The female seems like she can hold her own.. of course I'm not gonna take a chance of him killing her while unsupervised.

The male freaked cause of the new divider so I put the plexi back in... I'll wait to breed once I find a nice 180+.
