Dovii Question

Do female Dovii's get any blue around their face? i.e. jaw. I've never personally seen it but I'm curious if it ever occurs.

no, i dont think they get much blue, males get much more colourfull.

even at a smaller size? my friends dovii is about 3-5" and its so blue i can't even believe it. he doesn't know if its male or female tho

Females fins with get a nice blue color, but as far as the face and body go, males are the only ones to get color there.

I thought that was the case too but I came across a pic of Aquamojo's female and it has blue on it's face. Here's a link to the pic.

no females can get a blue on the face too well the top of the snout at least

here is one of my old ones you can see it on her

Look at this Dovii which is female according to Venting.. It has tons of blue on it's gills. The blue is drowned out by the flash in most pictures but in person you can really see it stand out. This one is 6.25" long.

But as you can see with the flash it does not show up.

I've spoken with him before and that one is a male. I've yet to see a female with the spots above the line.
