my pair of dovii have spawned, the male is 5 inches and the female is about 3. well they bred on a flower pot but they dont seem to protect it when people are around. shld i raise the eggs up myself?
Are there other fish in the tank? How long since they spawned? If there are no other fish in the tank and the dovii aren't eating the eggs I would leave to them.

yeh theres a lussoso and a pbass in it as well. yep first time parents, i did a big water change today and when i came back from work i saw eggs. the other fishes dont go to there side tho, atm they are just hiding from people.
Congrats on the spawn. Where in London are you anyway mate? Where'd ya get your dovii from??
The fry won't survive long term with tankmates like cichla.
But, the parents will benefit from being left alone until the fry are free swimming and never remove all the fry. Leave a percentage with them. This reaffirms their bond. I know they will be predated on, but this is what's best for the pair in the long run.
im from east london and i got them from wholesale tropicals in bethal green. i think they got 1 left, i got another dovii as well. yeh im going to seperate the tank soon. the pbass doesnt go near the eggs tho, the male is defending half the tank. wholesale tropicals is probably the best tropical fish shop in the uk (pfk says so)
