I did not realize that he was that old..............wow

Yep. Still just a pup though. Since I moved him into the big tank he seems to have entered another growth spurt. The dilution effect of big water helps keep growth inhibiting toxins at a minimum, but I still have to change lots of water.

I've only had him back for about six months now. I gave him to a friend a few years ago, and he gave him back since he (my friend) thought he needed a bigger tank....... And that happened on the heels of me returning a similarly sized male to another friend who gave him to me!

Interestingly, both big fish got along fine in the community situation (but I eased them in to it; kept them divided for a couple of weeks).

Why do people get fish if they just intend to get rid of them later?

Yeah, I agree.

In the case of dovii, there are several fish that are almost identical in every way except size that are more suitable for most people. From little grammodes to bigger motas, there's something for every tank.

mines 13 inches now hes a yr i got him in a 125 till i move hopen in the next 6 months or so i dont see the growth anymore but friends do....im figuren a 300 gallon for the pair and a few flash fish to help with visuals

or at least try to since as of now he kills anything in the tank but the female ...she is pushen about 6-7 inches now so im hopen for spawn ...crossen fingers ...time will tell

well, i dunno why my fish never grow when i want them to, and i don't have a dicus. I want a glass bumper like dovii, but i want them to stay around 8-14". Does gramode act like dovii?

not all dovii are glass bangers man , it depends on the temperment of the fish , mine was calm when i got him hid alot then i got him a female and now hes all over the tank he chases ur hand and all......hate to see him after a spawn think hell b crazy then well see .......in the 8-14 inch range go with a jag a female will keep u in that size limit and also will b a "mean" fish

NO. Dovii are fish that live best alone or with a mate. They do not tolerate "friends". And a 75??? Are you kidding me? And why would you buy the fish, grow it out, then give it away??? That is 1 irresponsible and 2 just a waist of time and money... AND 3 why would you wanna go through all that to give it away when it is BIG??? Thats when they are the funnest. Either get a big-ass tank or get smaller fish.
