Dovii tub?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I see the problem being length. The tub still isn't even 6ft. Again no expert on dovii but I would think they would appreciate a longer area to swim especially since you are planning to keep a pair.

Alright, I might do a colony of Burundi Frontosas

That would look very nice :)

Although, I wish actual dovii keepers would chime in and give their opinions.

i keep a few dovii and depending on size, not just with dovii. for any fish, not always possible and guilty myself but i think any fish should be able to reach his top swimming speed. of course they dont have to be to be kept but would be nice to provide that for them. fish swim horz more than vert, thats why the length of the tank is so important. of course this is just my opinion. id rather have a 135 gal 6footer than a 300 gallon tank thats 2x2x 6 feet tall or whatever measurement it maybe but you get the picture...

I see what you mean .. Oh well..

I personally think that it would be fine for a pair, but the larger foot print is always better. Height is not as important as width. Would rather have a 3 foot wide than 3 foor tall.

My pair are going in a 7 - 4 - 2.5 400 gal tub when/if they outgrow the 7 foot tank.

My personal experience with dovii is that they are not overly active cichlids but they do get big and mean. With both pairs I have kept the males were not overly hard on the females. I think in your situation, if the female is given proper retreats, I see no problem. I think if given proper filtration and regular water changes you could grow an impressive pair in there.
