Not really a cure for bloat, but something that can prevent it.

The only trick I used was lots of AIR. It worked for beani's and haitiensis. 30-50% water changes twice a week and they must be the dominate fish (or) solo.

But it seems there are different tricks from different keepers. That^ is what I did.

But the main thing that I know is air, lots of air.
 
I had a beani in same water same tank that my other fish got sick in and the beani was active and healthy never a problem...

I believe this bloat thing is rumors..

The beani i had never got sick while others did.


Why do ppl keep spreading this bloat thing about beanis? For me it wasnt true.

They say this because it's happened to them. I've expirienced healthy beani, bloat, and duck lips. Basically you get a healthy beani or one with issues lol.

i think their time they had unhealthy beanis. And maybe they got from same line so they all had same story.

I had one from TUiC and another from COa and two different times. from 1" -5" I had no problems. But I remember some other fish got sick during the winter; beanis did not. They get more vulnerable as adults?

Haitensis have no competition where they live, they are apex I believe. Haitensis get bloat when pushed by other fish and they are not dominate. Dovii are simply put, killing machines. There is no cichlid alive that compare to a dovii in terms of aggression. A full grown dovii will literally try to destroy a tank to get to you, to this day I have never seen anything come close to the ferocity that a dovii shows when attacking the glass, or the water siphon, or your hand, etc. haha
