Dovii vs Umbee?

that fish is kept in a 600 gal. is the OP going to cater for that.
Seriously, I doubt his parents would let him!!!!
Perhaps the beani or a grammodes is going to be his best bet in a 6 x 2 x 2.5ft.

As long as he gives the fish the gallons it requires and it is on it's own it will establish a territory.

I would recommend umbees as they are curious and come out and swim around a lot but he will need the 6 x 2 x 2.5ft to accomodate, if he does this, he will get a killer.

I suggest if he goes umbee he grows it from a 2 inch or smaller, observing the progression is excellent!

How about the beani cichlid though how aggressive are they? Compared to the umbee?

why do you keep asking the question about how aggressive a beani and dovii and umbee is and you keep dodging everyones question of what tank size are the going to be in. nor a dovii or a umbee will be aggressive in a 55 gallon. they will be cramped and stressed and probably shy.

OP, try grammodes. They are "Mini-Dovii" -- basically the same fish in a much smaller package. You could keep one in a 55 for life, and you could still fit a couple of other fish too. The grammy will absolutely murder feeder fish if that's what you're looking for, and they're complete bastards to their own kind. Sounds like it fits the bill!
