DOVII VS UMBII

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Jagster thanks for the complement. Your dovii is very nice looking also. My guy was very shy around people until he was about 6" then it seamed like over night he just refused tank mates and people near his tank. But ever time I upgraded him to a bigger tank he would become people shy for a few weeks. Just when I did not believe he could be any crazier he had fry and now it's hard to even feed the psycho! But I would not change him I love him this way just a pain sometimes.

Iv heard that wen u introduce a female and they spawn the male goes psycho. It's taken a while for my dovii to even not hide from me wen I approach the tank. Everyone has told me that patience is key and slowly but surely he is comming around. At 10 inches I thought he would be the dovii everyone talks about but maybe it will take him a little longer and trust me i have the patience

Yeah I would not worry I'm sure he will be a nut before you know it. I truly believe it has a lot to do with tank size and them clameing territory. So if you have him in a large tank it will take a little longer. But it will be well worth it when your none fish family and friends are amassed.

Jagster, wonderful dovii you have. Can you share where you got him from? That is some incredible color.

got a new camera heres a few better pics of mine jagster. he's about 7inch and the female is around 6inch, her egg tube is down today so fingers crossed... must have took you a while to get them shots jagster, correct me if im wrong be he dont look that amazing all the time right? with mine at least its about getting a shot in the right light... typically for me my best shot is out of focus and has the sodding xmas tree lights reflecting in it!-) mine hides aswell so getting just a shot is hard enough, let alone a good one.DSC_0026.JPGDSC_0057.JPGView attachment 864946View attachment 864947

Dovii are very owner responsive, mine is absolut pycho I can not go near the tank and its a 180!
I also have a rio mag and I have come to choose my Rio mag with out hesitation. Dovii Color and beauty does not come close to the rio mag ! To be honest its cool to see my dovii make waves splash water and swim back and forth full speed, but its getting quite annoying I have to be very carful.when approaching the tank so he dont hurt him self

Umbee Takes the Cake Hands Down!!!! Love my Rio Mag!

How can Dovii color compare to Umbee??

Both fish are incredible but the constant hunting and patrolling my
Umbees do make the decision easy for me. I love the open water predator lifestyle in the tank it brings so much more activity to the tae than the lurking ambush approach of dovii. Not that dovii aren't active it's just a different way of life.
