I am starting to think about what to do with my Dovii in the future
I'm thinking about puting him in a 240g tank, is there any possibilty in having any tankmates with him? like Midas, Flowerhorn or some Vieja sp. ??

If your tank is that big these guys are completly overlooking a possible tankmate, if you can find an adult or large black shark, it will be be fine with your dovii. Adult black sharks with enough room can grow to 24 inches and can be one of the toughest most agressive fish you will find in the hobby. Ive got a 9 inch black shark in a 125G tank with an 11 inch red devil, devil dosent mess with him. If your dovii goes after a large black shark, the shark will almost certainly defend himself well enough that the dovii wont bother him again. You should really look into it, black sharks are incredible looking fish as well. Here is a video of a full grown black shark you guys should really check it out, it takes a bit to load but its amazing!

Here is also a picture of a large black shark, I believe this is a 180G tank:

Wow I've never seen a black shark that size, very cool. Are they very aggressive with everything, or just in terms of defending themselves?

yea im thinking in a 245 it could have like a big catfish or plecos but thats about it.possibly a female if you have a divider.

Well, mine chases my african cichlids around if they get too close, he hasnt killed anything in my tank but all of the other fish wisely avoid him. Ive never seen him back down from any other fish and if the other fish pushes the issue the black shark always comes out on top. That said, I have heard stories about large black sharks killing large breeds of cichlids, leperinus, and all kinds of other formitable fish. However, like their smaller tamer cousins, red tail sharks, black sharks personalitys probably vary widely. Sometimes you'll get one that will be fine in a community and sometimes you will get the homicidal maniac:) They really are spectacular fish though and do really really well with large cichlids. A dovii would be a great tankmate for one!

Lol, an adult Dovii will kill pretty much anything, it's best if you keep it alone. Umbriferum are just about as large and aggressive. As awesome as it would be having those two huge cichlids together, they would just fight.

hell yeah they will mine has yet to have an succseful tank mate other than plecos and armoured cats

Like I said before, try a black shark, if you can find an adult, the dovii wont mess with after it snaps back a few times:)
