as far as 300-500 gallons go for a single male that is real nice for the fish but not needed. if you do a search you will find that most captive dovii around here are not larger then 20 inches and thats big. a minimum of 180 gallon would suffice but the bigger the better. im no expert on dovii but give it few weeks and you should see some darker blue devloping on those fins if its a male. when i got mine they were only 2 inches but by the time they were 3 inches i could tell. nice fish. they are very interesting to me.
