Dovii

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
IME, any cichlid that over powers the dovii is a tankmate forever or for awhile. Buttikoferi's tend to over power dovii's alot, even red devils to some degree.

If I keep the dovii I'm hoping since he's pertty much growing up with the others and the jag is so much bigger he wont go into kill eveerything mode.... plus maybe every month channge up the tank layout... now what if I just do open water tank with two large rocks no territory to fight over but does have open line of sight

Well the problem with dovii is they dont claim territory, they claim tanks.

Yea, dovii are best kept solo or paired. Unless you want to keep a single fish or pair then thats your best option. Both of my dovii live alone unless breeding. I would not suggest adding the butti either they are well known for killing tankmates. I have one of them solo too. Your jag and gt will be good together. You could look into somthing from the vieja species or maybe a midas or other amp if you find one thats not too aggressive. Big cichlid communities take time and trial and error to get things right. Adding dithers like silver dollars also helps to keep the aggression down.

1bigdovii thank you.... I have no midas around me right now would a red devil sub? Ill be unloading my dovii Thursday to my brother (he's awesome kinda sad but love my jag more) and looking for a midas... like the color mix of the three midas, jag, gt... if a red devil will also work let me know

A red devil is POSSIBLE but it depends on wether u get a aggressive devil or not..

Yea a devil is possible, they do tend to be on the aggressive side. If you like the orange color depending on how aggressive your current stock is, you could try a red bay snook. They get big but not very mean, a very cool fish tought. I used to have one they have a backet mouth and are very interesting to watch eat.
