12 a pop great price nice. How are they all doing. I am setting my tank up this weekend just want to paint the stand! Going to do red tail cudas and payara again only. (or yellow I dont care haha)
Well vamp sadly there is only 1 big cuda left. He is hovering around 10" and his growth has slowed alot. Mostly because he does not have the protection or competition of the shoal like these guys need.
The new ones in the pics turned out to be Ace minimus(?) one of the dwarf cuda species that get 4"max. They would make a great predator for a 20-30g tank life long. But are dangerously out of place in my tanks now.
To make matters worse I just purchased 10 3-4" falcirosus and I am power feeding them trying to hurry there allready lightning growth rate up so they can go in with the big boy. And they are having to be housed with the Ace mini's, which means they may become food for the falcirosus. No other cuda can put down live fish like a falcirosus. Currently they are 3-4" and are eating 2-3" fat head minnows with no problems.
Tfd fish . com has them right now mis labeled as red tail barracuda. And i beleive one of the vendors has them as well in the classifieds with pics.
The ones circulating right now are all fals from what I have seen and will be monster-ish in no time. Because they will grow 1+" a month up to 6-8" and then slow down by about 10". Max they should reach 16" in aquaria and 20"+ in the wild.
I will get some pics of the new guys and post soon.
I wanted to add that the ones going around now (Falcirosus-2 black stripes head to tail) are also one of the few cuda's that are very disease resistant.
I have never had any of the fin and tail rot problems with these like you get with all others. Except for when I had 2 species mixed and the falcatus (red tail)'s got fin rot which transfered to the falscirosus. Other than that they are incredably hardy for a Ace.
Awesome, tfdfish.com has the big ones mislabeled as red tails? If my local pet store can not get anything I will order from them in a second. 12$ a fish to is a good deal from what I have been paying. My tank needs to cycle first, I will get my water perfect before I try any cuda's but wont hurt to look.
The ones you ordered from tfdfish, you did not lose any? Good man, no fin rot or ich either. Yeah whenever you get time I would like to see some more photos. Screw the little ones grow the big ones haha kidding.
Yes tFD has the big ones mis-labeled as red tails.
I ordered 10 from TFD. 9 came in live and well. 1 was dead upon arrival but they just refunded the money for that one because I couldn't see paying 30 bucks to ship 1 12 dollar fish. lol
I have had them since tuesday and have no disease what so ever at the moment. 1 even came in with a bite mark probably from another cuda and it is healing remarkably well.
They are a 3 foot long plastic plants meant for reptile enclosures I beleive. And the one that is floating is actually zip tied to the tanks center brace to keep it in the middle. They do float but the base will sink.
Here is a link but I get them locally at Feeders supply pet shop.
