not yet, i am still trying to know them. Dawn it, they're pig. they eat whenever you feed them and they come to me.
dawn it, but better than they die. i was expected 'cause as a newbie, usually will loose a few at the beginning. That's why i got 12 instead of 10 'cause shipping fee is so expensive. Aloha can't wait to see your pics.mr.dagol;4589631; said:100 gal may have 1 or 2 stunted not to sure..
I want this thread alive and want see how many ppl raising discus. Also I want some helps with my 100g tank running around 2 weeks. 1st week had parrott in it that my friend gave to me. About the 8th days I put a dozen discus in and found out this site info that my tank is not fully cycle. Now I want to go thru the cycle and save my discus. Currently I have 2 filters 1 new reaction filter and 1 aged stablished jebo 838 from friend. Water tested ammonia between 2.5-5.0, Nitrite 5.0 and nitrate 5.0. Can anyone have any idea how to save my discus? I appreciate it.
Ps: I am using seachem stability and sync stress.
Thank you in advance,
First thing. you are over stocked. 100 gal = 10 discus. you have 12 and 1 other fish. Are you doing 50% water changes a day? is fo, you may get away with it... If they are adult, I'd go for three or four times a week at over stocked levels min.
As for cycling your tank. there are a few products out there like microb-lift and other bacterial supplements. I've seen a few that claim to fully cycle a tank with one bottle. So try lookin at your LFS for some of those as it may be your only hope. Your ammonia is dangerously high...

sorry, i forgot to mention that i took out the parrot so i only have 12 discus. I also understand by rule of thumb 10G per 1 discus, but they are different sizes and hope that 's not really over stocked. In regard to water change, i do it once a week, i am changing it tomorrow.

Yeah. I'd still say 2.5+ammonia is very high for discus.
So maybe just boost up the water changes.
I know 100gal is a lot. so maybe do like 20% every other day. with a massive 50% once a week until the tank is cycled.
use something like this:

to help boost up the speed of nitrifying bacteria

I did water change and used seachem stability, zync stress and prime. i'll do wc the way you suggested.
Thank you,
Good luck.
I did wc on last Sunday and today again in the morning. I tested in the evening and ammonia is good at zero but nitrite/nitrate is still high. do you think i am the end or close to the cycle? also does nitrite/nitrate will low very soon or any affect to discus??
Thank you all,
