I think my Dragon Goby is lazy......He likes it when I go upto him and squirt the bloodworms from a syringe. I have to do it that way or else...The others eat it and leave nothing for him....

Definitely use sand.. they sift through the sand and that substrate looks pretty jagged and sharp..

I probably wont be able to do the change in substrate for a few months....I gotta pay off those christmas presents....Probably when tax returns come..I'll purchase the sand substrate.

Its gonna be PITA to change that substrate...I dont have a substitute tank to put them in while I would go in and take out the old and put in the new.

Dp ypu need to change the sand ever? Or is it good forever?

Can I use Marine Aragonite? Does this creat a buffer for the pH?

Just pick up some pool filter sand from any pool supply store.. it's about $10 per 50 lb bag. To my knowledge you do not need to swap it out, just stir it during water changes.

Yeah if you don't stir it then pockets where anaerobic bacteria live can form, and they produce poisons that can kill your tank.
