yea i have an about 8 inch goby and im not sure about tank mates yet
what do you think would work well??

Nothing very aggressive or goby will starve. Also at that size you need to start working toward brackish conditions for best health conditions.
Long term they do much better in brackish to even full marine, despite what your LFS told you when they sold it.

so they already have beneficial bacteria in them
or maybe im getting my 12 piranah in a 125g tank
or maybe even that i have my convicts in a different tank
