I recently acquired a 180 gallon tank with five 3/4" holes drilled into the bottom of it. Only problem is the holes are staggered throughout the bottom of the tank. Its uniform, but I don't want five ugly pipes coming up from the bottom of my tank in several places. What would you do? Plug the holes and just make a DIY overflow like in the stickies?

There are a number of possible uses.
You could build an RUGF.
You could use them as returns, topped with an adjustable 90 to direct waste to your drains.
You could use them to supply air to airstones/ornaments.

If you want to plug the holes, I would get bulkhead fittings and install them to plug the fittings. That way you can easily remove them should you change your mind later.

:iagree:

While not as effective, and not as safe you don't have to have pips inside the tank. You can put 90's on the outside of the tank, and have the pipes on out outside. If you run it across the bottom and up the back, then you can set the water level that way. I personally would have a kick but UGJ with that setup, or even a a nice closed loop.
