dramatic loss of color

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I have a black background white argonite sand a 10k and an actinic t8 light. After I installed all that I did notice a huge color difference. As far as food goes I usually just fed them blood worms and krill. But that's why I asked about the food cause I heard that that was a bad idea to feed them like that. I have pictures in a hello post from a few days ago

A quality cichlid food will definitely help with the colors. I feed NLS 1mm pellets everyday, and mysis shrimp or krill a couple times a week for added protein (Tanganyikans)

I have heard you shouldn't feed bloodworms to africans, I don't know of any proof of ill effects, just giving you a heads up.

well good to know ill just throw the remainder of the blood worms away. i havent heard of the worms being bad for them before. i didnt think to second guess the petstores feeding advice because i thought that was pretty basic info. well from now on i wont even ask the simplest of questions to them. its not the first time ive gotten bad advice from them either. its so frustrating that is their job and they obviously dont know what the hell theyre talking about.
