Dream African

I am still trying to get an Protomelas sp. "Spilonotus Likoma"... I have tried oh have I tried. I have even tried having them specially caught for me... This is just one dang hard hap to get. (At least for the last 3 years.) http://www.cichlid-forum.com/profiles/species.php?id=1237

I also was planning on doing an front... but well now I am sort of hooked with EBJD, and so my new 240 will let my 120 be a growout (which may be switched to say a 180 in the futur) for them... and well no space left in the apartment unless I am willing to toss a couch out... So that wont happen for at least the next 2 years.

But seeing as I will be up to oh 1100 gallons of water in an apartment I figure I should stop getting new tanks till I get my Ph.D.... Hence fronts are on the back burner. (Unless the guy that is getting the WC Zaires can breed them... and is willing to give me a good price.)

my ideal african? Let's see
either him or a 240 full of fronts and comps

I was just looking at those thinking I should get one... thanks for the heads up on the difficulty... I will do fronts for you just come visit them...lol

Oh after a good 100+ emails of searching... And most saying try ___ or the last I saw those was ___ years ago... I may be due to ask around again but it is a fish that just seems impossible to get.

facial features are also important to me when picking a specimen... so lets not think since the color and "fins" are nice I will let it go... top notch only...must be striking in the face as well...

fronts are great.

Petrochromis Red Bulu Point..:headbang2:headbang2:headbang2

And What stops me?
- First of all... avaibility.. there are very few people that have them
- Incredibly ridiculous prices..and will sell my house for them if i had my own house..and didn't live with my parentes..:D
- Need a bigger tank..

A group of Genyochromis mento, they don't seem to be around though.

You can have a look at the Protomelas Spilonotus Mbenji and Mozambique as well.

These are all the same species, except caught different places . They may have a minor coloration difference but they are the same
