I would rather have an pond/pool inside, with awesome filtration, crystal clear, with an ally in it.

Me too! I'd put some other stuff in there too. But if those obnoxious feral cats under my deck stuck their heads over the edge of the pond, I would have one less thing to worry about......actually that would be two, no more stray cats, full turtle.

I don't know an indoor pond or outdoor above ground wouldn't be bad since you can see the turtle from the side.

Its also a death trap to all the birds who try and bath & drink from it. I knew a guy who had 2 bird feeders next to his common snappers pond for awhile and every day or 2 he had to net feathers out.

Not with alligators....with common snappers yes, that would happen...
