will getting new healthy lr speed up that process?

Not overly no..Keeping good water params and lighting is the key with it...

HOWEVER....dont know if you get it there, but, my LFS gives away coraline algae scrapings for people to throw in their tanks...That may help a bit to aid in spreading coraline around the tank..
