drift wood found in the great outdoors

Scrubbing and boiling seem to be the consensus I've read on here. I've even heard soaking it w/ some bleach, but I think that will create problems. Every piece I've ever used I scrubbed to knock the loose particles off. I then poured boiling water over it and let it soak.

Bake then boil. I'm about to do a few pieces I have- free utilities at my apartment= long term boiling!

i just threw it in to a BIG stainless pot for steaming seafood and boiled the hell out of it

Yeah i agree boil it, good luck with yours mine will still not sink i had to submerge it and hold it down with a massive rock lol

i found another big beautifull piece of drift wood on friday im saving it for my 75 gallon when it comes but im going ahead and going to get a new rubermade tub and soak the wood till the tank comes in that way its already set to sink when it comes down to geting the new tank. oh yeah what kind of live plants look good with drift wood?

yeah i had to put rocks on mine too lol but thats ok it will sink eventually
