Drift Wood question

I don't know about "overpriced"... I get really large pieces from my LFS, and they even come pre-washed and attached to a flat piece of slate. Latest piece was a really cool looking 2ft tall x 3ft wide multi branch item... $10. What kinda prices are you looking at?

The pieces ive see at my LFS are about the same size, and they are 40$ a piece and not very good looking at all..

I was just wondering if their were any other places that i could try look for nice pieces.

that is sooooo cheap!

I get my driftwood from the bottom of a a local lake. already sinks and if you dont like tannins most are gone, all that needs to be done is soak them in tap water and pour boiling water over to sterilize them.

Can i do the same thing to drift wood i find at the beach? Maybe weight it down with stones if it doesnt sink?
Or will it eventually sink or does this all depend on the type of wood?

i would weight it down. or if you read badolross thread on his tank build he screwed his wood to a piece of Plexiglas and stainless steel screw big enough to cover with stand that hold that wood down.
