Ok I keep hearing about driftwood turning the water yellow is this a problem? I'm setting up a tank in an office that I will only see once a month and I want to use driftwood will I be ok?

How about water changes. I hear people say not to change 50% when you do a water change .... why? I have done it a lot and have not seen a problem but I was wondering what is behind the advice not to do large water changes?

As far as I know 50% water changes once a month is good for the tank. Also do a 10% water change every week. Thats how I maintain my 90 and 210.

Soak the driftwood for about a week.New driftwood floats. The water turning yellow won't do any harm to the fish. :D

I knew it wouldn't hurt the fish but I don't want to have a yellow tank ..... the client would complaine.

Is there a way to minimize the yellowing of the water?

Soak the driftwood for a month,or buy driftwood that is already seasoned.

use african root wood or malaysian driftwood cuz it doesn't stain the water and it doesn't float

Thanks

I must have missed your reply...... I wish we could search for posts we haven't read. I'm often at the shop and if we have very many posts it will time out before I get through all the posts and I'll miss some of them.

Howdy,

I know exactly how you feel. Hard to keep track of things. Posting the link was just easier for me than typing. I'm lazy :D

Go for the driftwood
