I typically like to soak mine in very hot water for about a week to get the brown out. (sorry I hate always trying to figure out how to spell that T word)

and the tanning is not bad. its actually benefits the fish mimicking its natural habitat in the wild. some people hate the tanning some people like it. i personally like it.
