Driftwood from ocean to a freshwater tank?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I think it's safe by now. I would hose it off after you clean off the hair roots you want gone and then look out for displacment when that piece goes in the tank, dont want a wet floor.

I'd be more concerned about how you're going to sink this beast of a piece of wood. Do you have a few big pieces of slate rock or something?

Thanks for all the tips. Im actually going to use fishing line to tie it to a large piece of slate.

I broke all the soft parts off the roots so now its only about 2 1/2 feet across and I will be cutting the stalk off so it only goes to the top of the aquarium.

thats a nice piece.

That's a really nice piece of driftwood. I'd imagine it be ok. If you're still hesitant, soak it or pour boiling water on it after you get ti cut for your 125g.

nice driftwood! Have you thought about laying it on its side and hving it branch all the way across the tank?

'Twas nicer the way it was before. Got one piece from a beach before. It has been in my tank for 8 years now. My aunt got it while strolling around the beach and she picked it up since she knew I keep fish.:)

Thanks for all the advice and comments everyone!

Yep uncwnells, I have. Its still uncut so I havent decided. I found it down your way actually, right out of Snows Cut on the back side of Masonboro Island.
