Driftwood? HELP

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
try Purigen,,,

Purigen wont get rid of the Tannins. Carbon is the best for it. I use Matrix carbon from seachem or ChemiPure. They seems to work nicer then other brands. With Matrix Carbon it doesnt compact due to being round. But thats just what I have had the best results with. but that is only for the color

likewise... i change my carbon and frequent water changes. i dont know about boiling it ... i would just let it bleed out ... iv heard drift wood is good like a natural filter so boiling may alter the piece....id wait it out mine took close to 3 months to clear up .... yayyy !

i put all my driftwood in large trash cans, fill with hot water(empty and refill every day)soaking in hot water works alittle faster, also purigen works very well for taking the color out the water, and it is rechargeable.
i have used this method on very large pieces and it has worked every time, longest i ever soak a peice was 3 weeks(large stump piece).
tip:use a few cups of marine salt in the hot water(seems to help)

im on the same bus. Boil it, or soak it in a different bucket then your tank and wait it out if you dont like what it looks like. I persoanully love the look of it. And most fish do to
