So... I have a salt water pool... It has a salt breaker installed... The salt goes through the breaker (set at 20%).. breaking the sodium from the chorlrde which helps keep the pool clean with free floating chorline. After a while the sodium and cholrides rejoin as salt again and the process restarts... I was tired of soaking my driftwood in a wheelbarrow... so I dropped it in the pool (65,000 gallons). I can shut off the breaker and then it will be just soaking in a lite salt water... Am I being stupid here? I can't see how this could hurt as I can control the chorline that is being produced and can stop it at anytime... and within 4 hours the pool is just back to being salt without chorline.

Ive done it plenty of times i has a large root system strapped to a cinder block which i kicked over the edge andsoaked for weeks before it was water logged. I just rinsed in fresh water over night and dechlorinatex when i placex it in the tank.

Go for it.

I soaked some big pieces in my hot tub (I also have a Salt Water Chlorine Generator). The driftwood has been in my tank for almost one year and my fish are doing fine. To be safe you can soak it in your barrel with a high dosage of prime to make sure there's no residual chlorine.
