Driftwood might be messing with my tank. Help? Thoughts?

Make sure your fish having ich issue because fish can/will slashing their body to an objects by other thing in your aquarium water.
For example some species will slash their body when ammonia present in water (ammonia burn).
*Best method to treat ich is raise temp to 88F, adding salt along with ich medicine, this will clear out ich in a week (Ich full life circle in high temp is between 48~72 hours).

Thanks Yuki. Do you think this method will be safe for my Alligator Gar? He's only 5 inches.

ive collected my own wood and this happened, not sure why...maybe wrong type of wood or not old enough, maybe it still has sap? curious as to if anyone has a definitive answer?
Boiling the wood is not the best thing to do as it quite litterally cooks the cellulose structure and breaks it down making it rife and ready for a fungal bloom.
Ick is present in 99% of all tanks. It is opportunistic and can present itself when fish immune systems are compromised from excess stress or bacterial or fungal infection. The fish may easily thwart the bacterial or fungal bloom, but ick is not so easily fought off and weakens the immune system even further once well established.
I soak mine in 10% bleach solution for 2 or 3 hours, then sun dry for a few days til no chlorine odor remains, or if too large for soaking tub, simply wipe down with 50% solution and air dry likewise.

A slight film still developes on it as the bacterial colonies establish themselves and do their thing, but the white film hardly ever crops up, and when it does itis minimal and very temporary.

Now my Alligator Gar looks like he has Ich, but my other 2 fish, (red wolf, and TSN), are not effected.
Any ideas on what happened and how I can fix this?

If your fish have ich, it did not come from the wood.

The Red Wolf that you appear to have just gotten (10 days ago) is likely the culprit. Ich is commonly introduced from new arrivals.

The parasitic cyst can be on one fish, multiply, drop to the substrate, then be released and re-infect the same or other fish. You will not always notice the infection as the cyst is very small and under the skin until it expands. And of course, it's easier to see on some fish as opposed to others.

Try to confirm it's ich. Are any of the fish flashing?
