Driftwood "smoke" caught on camera!

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Find out where you got it meaning who sold it to you and if it was say African or Malaysian it may have been treated with a chemical prior to shiping to the states and or treated with a chemical at the location where you bought it. If you pulled it out from a river somewhere the above doesn't apply.

How long have you had the driftwood in there? If it's new, it may still be leeching out tannins.

:headbang2

Agreed. I would take it out and soak soak soak. However, I do want to know what the hell you're doing in the background around 2:30.... That's a lot of noise!

Tannins aren't white and wispy. They come out as a yellow aura. Drop an Alder cone in some water and watch.

Looks to me like deeply embedded proteins or other bio muck coming out to saturate the new water. Looks really cool and I'd buy one. :D

could be some thing like a dead thread fungus that infected the wood when it was living now its soaked its leaching out ether that or the bog wood is haunted!

Wow:WHOA:

Thats definitely something spawning thats living in the wood. It happening after water changes pretty much proves it. Iv never seen it or heard of anything like it in fresh water but iv seen it in saltwater. It looks just like the smoke some worms and anemones make when they spawn. I would think its harmless to your fish since its living in the wood. I would leave it in the tank and see what happens.
