Driftwood too big?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
move it to one side or the other, Im thinking the left side, but thats just me!

I have to disagree...

That piece is too big.. its too tall and taking up swimming space for the Jardini
Arowana needs to have nothing on the top that will bother them from swimming.. I've seen cases where people who had giant driftwood caused accidents of breaking of Arowana jaw because they got caught in the drfitwood. .while freaked out...

I'm sure you agree that arowana can get spooked very easily... and if u have a center piece that big.. it will just get in the way...

I would rather invest in a giant piece of wood that goes on the bottom of the tank... But that's just me..

EX of my own 150g (72"x20"x24")

I know i can do more with my tank.. but with arowana.. i dont even bother with plants or the other sort.. I'll just get in the way of their movement..

I would have to agree.. its too big.

I just let my centerpiece go because it was too big for my aro. He scarred his head pretty bad the first time he hit it then I found scratches on him here and there so I just sold it..

It was one of the nicest pieces of malaysian wood I have ever seen too..

Thanks for the quick responses guys! I''ll try moving it to one side of the tank. The picture was taken right after I put it in that's why the arowana on the bottom.. right now it's swimming around the tank but doesnt seem like it likes that giant piece of wood in its way haha.

I was thinking about trimming some of the driftwood but it seems like a waste..

i wouldn't trim it.. u know how long it takes for that piece of wood to get that particular shape? Destroying it is like destroying natures work of art.. I wouldn't..

Sell it and with that money... get a better piece suited for the bottom....

For the type of fish you have I think that wood is too big. I would recommend getting branchy wood like manzanzita wood. I have a 5x2x2 tank, too. Get a branchy piece like this.

Is it just me, or something is wrong with that fishs eye?

Okay so instead of cutting it I repositioned it so it sits lower, barely fits but now there's swimming room for my arowana!
