Could the woods maybe be sealed so that nothing leaks out?

it wouldn't look like wood after you sealed it with a fish safe sealant. plus, its a lot of work. the main purpose for using driftwood is to make it look more natural, so IMHO i wouldn't

i got a piece in the tub as we spek but man did the bugs comen flooden out when i did ..... tryn to think of a contain that i can find to put em all in and start a fire under to boill em
thinking maybe a 55 gallon drum under he fire pit...for like 4 hrs

its not that crucial that you need to boil it like that. feel free but you could get a lot of benefits from just soaking in hot water in the tub. The bugs coming out in the tub instead of your tank is one. also, you want to water log the wood so it will sink. weight it down in the tub if it wont sink. also, look and see if it leeches out tannins. rinse and soak repeatedly until water is clear

Does anyone know anything about landscaping driftwood? Is that an ok thing to use? Probably alot cheaper then aquarium driftwood.

I used a bunch of Mopani in my garden, but I know about the other way around... I would be worried about pesticides & microbes. I use Mopani because it looks great & sinks well. It leeches for a few weeks, but they all do. I boil it for a few hours in saltwater, then soak it in hot freshwater in a cooler. The freshwater seems to suck out more of the tannins as it pulls out the salt. Just my experience...
