Find a river and go treasure hunting. Dont cut a branch off a live tree.

no, i'm dying to use my new hacksaw...

but seriously, if it was that easy, i wouldn't have made this thread. ;)

When we had the Oscar setup we soaked our wood in the bath for a week than baked it in the oven for a few hours then soaked again never had a problem but it was old and weathered when we found it I just made sure I killed all the nasties how frigging ridiculous is the prices of driftwood???

hey i just thought of a sweet idea?

Tree branch + bark ... + epoxy?!?!

Not sure I get it.. You want to strip the bark off a tree branch and epoxy it back on?

The reason they say to strip the bark off is that it's extremely soft and rots really fast. Can cause an ammonia spike. Epoxying it back on wouldn't prevent the rot.

Alternatively, if you are thinking of taking a branch with bark on it, and coating that with epoxy, I guess it could work. You'd have to make sure to get thorough coverage. It also tends to look a bit unnatural, most clear epoxies will cause light to reflect off of it. Would look like a plastic ornament or something.

No. I meant epoxy paint.

Completely cover the wood and bark. it would always look Brand new :)

you could always strip it down and just cover the wood.

edit: Now that i think about it, epoxy's going to run you a bit of money...might not be cost effective.
