I can only assume there's a decent web seller out there somewhere. Can anyone recommend one to me?

Also, how does one go about keeping it down in the water (since it does as named - drift).
I was planning in adding it to my established 55 cichlid tank.

Check out manzman on MFK, good manzanita pieces.

Driftwood can sink over time, so just tie it down, or weight it down in the meantime.

Another vote for Manzman. I have bought from him before and everything went smoothly. The pieces I bought from him took around a month to sink. I put the pieces in a big sturdy garbage can, filled it up with water, and left them in there until they sank.

The pieces I bought did not leach a crazy amount of tannins. The amount leeched looked "just right" to my eyes. I liked the look. But liking the clear water look a wee bit more I threw a couple bags of Seachem Purigen into my filters and voila! No more tannins.
