I bought a piece of driftwood thats supposed to be for reptiles but the guy at my lfs said it wood be ok to put it in a fishtank so I triedit. I soaked the wood for a while before putting it in. The next day i put it in my tank and overnnight a bunch of whiteish slime is comming off. I removed it and soaking it again. All my fish are fine. Do you think I could try it again or just leave it out of the tank?

That's strange........ Do you have any pix? I've never had white slime come off of anything but my lima shovelnose.

I never heard of this happening, but after keeping fish for the last six years, I learn to never trust a random guy who works at a petstore... Unless you are sure the LFS is reliable.

my dojo loaches shed a slime coat whenever the water quality is bad.

if it is a grapevine log the same thing happend to me i just scrubbed the white crap off and washed it in hot water and put it back in the tank no problems since:D
